The Year 7 team continue to add titles to their name by representing Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup winners following a 5-0 win over Newbridge at the Leicester University playing fields on Thursday 4th May. In order to get there they beat Manor high 7-1 in the quarter finals and Belvoir High 2-1 in the semi-final’s (the closest score and toughest game they have had all season, which was not helped by the extreme weather conditions just as they kicked off). This title is on top of already easily winning their area league with wins over South Charnwood (9-0), Newbridge (8-0) and Ibstock (6-0). They also won the Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup for futsal earlier in the year, meaning they are now to play at St George’s Park on Saturday 3rd June to see who will go through to the National Play offs. With the skill level, determination and team spirit the girls have demonstrated throughout the year we have every faith that this fantastic team can go all the way. To date the team have only conceded 3 goals in all of their games, an amazing achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment they make throughout their games.

Next season will see the current Year 7 team join with our current Year 8/9 team and with the success we have seen this season we can expect an equally successful year of girl’s football at Brookvale Groby Learning Campus.

The PE department would like the girls to know how proud we all are of all their achievements this year, they have all been a credit to the school, not just for achieving so much, but because they have been so committed, hardworking and a delight to teach. Well done to all of you.
